Important — read this first

Nothing on this blog is financial advice. I am not a licensed financial advisor, investment professional, or regulated financial institution. Everything I write is based on my own personal experience and opinions as a regular Singaporean. Do not make any financial, investment or purchasing decisions based solely on what you read here. Always do your own research and consult a licensed professional.

01

Not Financial Advice

All content published on WealthfulWanderer — including blog posts, articles, social media posts, newsletters, comments and any other material — is provided for informational and entertainment purposes only. It does not constitute financial advice, investment advice, trading advice, or any other form of professional advice.

I am an ordinary Singaporean sharing my personal journey, opinions and experiences with money, investing and lifestyle. I am not a licensed financial advisor, fund manager, remisier, investment analyst, or any other type of regulated financial professional under the Securities and Futures Act (SFA) or any other applicable law in Singapore or elsewhere.

The content on this blog should never be used as the sole basis for any financial decision. What works for my personal situation may not work for yours — everyone's financial circumstances, risk tolerance, income, obligations and goals are different.

Before making any investment, financial or major purchasing decision, please consult a qualified and licensed financial professional who can assess your specific situation and provide personalised advice.

02

Invest at Your Own Risk

All investing involves risk. The value of investments can go down as well as up. You may get back less than you invest, and in some cases you may lose your entire investment. Past performance — whether of a stock, ETF, REIT, fund or any other instrument — is not indicative of future results.

  • Stock markets can be volatile. Prices can drop sharply and unexpectedly due to economic events, company news, global crises, interest rate changes or other factors outside anyone's control.
  • REITs carry their own risks including interest rate sensitivity, property market cycles, leverage, and distribution cuts. Distributions are not guaranteed.
  • ETFs track indices and will fall when the market falls. Index investing does not eliminate risk — it spreads it.
  • Digital brokerages carry platform risk. While all brokerages mentioned on this blog are MAS-regulated, regulation does not eliminate all risk. Ensure you understand the custody structure of any brokerage you use.
  • Currency risk applies when investing in foreign-denominated assets. Exchange rate movements can affect your returns in SGD terms.
  • Leverage and margin trading amplify both gains and losses. I strongly caution against these for beginners.

Any specific investments, brokerages, platforms or financial products mentioned on this blog are mentioned for illustrative or informational purposes only. This is not a recommendation to buy, sell or hold any specific investment.

03

Do Your Own Research (DYOR)

I cannot stress this enough: please do your own research before acting on anything you read here. My posts represent a snapshot of my personal understanding at the time of writing, based on publicly available information and my own experience. Markets change. Regulations change. Platforms change their fee structures. Products get discontinued.

Before opening any brokerage account, investing in any product, or taking any financial action mentioned on this blog, I encourage you to:

  • Read the official product documentation — prospectuses, fee schedules, terms and conditions — directly from the provider.
  • Verify current fees and features directly with the brokerage or platform, as these can change after I publish a review.
  • Check MAS licensing — verify that any financial institution you deal with holds a valid Capital Markets Services (CMS) licence via the MAS Financial Institutions Directory at mas.gov.sg.
  • Understand what you are buying before you buy it. If you cannot explain the investment to someone else, do more research first.
  • Consult a licensed financial advisor if you are unsure — especially for large sums, retirement planning, CPF investments or complex financial products.

Information I publish about specific investment products, fees, promotions or interest rates may be out of date by the time you read it. Always verify current information directly with the provider before making a decision.

04

Affiliate Links & Compensation

WealthfulWanderer participates in affiliate marketing programmes. This means that some links on this blog are affiliate links — if you click on a link and sign up for a product, make a purchase, or take another qualifying action, I may earn a commission or referral fee at no additional cost to you.

What this means for you: Affiliate links do not change the price you pay. You pay exactly the same whether you use my link or go directly to the provider.

What this means for me: I may earn a small commission that helps support the running costs of this blog — hosting, domain, tools and the time spent writing.

My commitment to you: I only recommend products and services I have personally used, researched, or genuinely believe may be useful. My opinions are my own and are not influenced by affiliate relationships.

05

Accuracy of Information

I make every reasonable effort to ensure that the information I publish is accurate and up to date at the time of writing. However, I cannot guarantee the accuracy, completeness, timeliness or suitability of any information on this blog.

Financial markets, interest rates, brokerage fees, product features, restaurant menus, hotel pricing, watch availability and all other topics I write about are subject to change at any time without notice. A review published six months ago may no longer reflect the current state of a product or service.

  • Fee structures and commission rates for brokerages and financial products change frequently. Always verify current fees directly with the provider.
  • Interest rates for SSBs, T-bills, fixed deposits and cash management products change each issuance. Check current rates at the relevant institution or MAS website.
  • Promotional offers and sign-up bonuses have expiry dates. Verify that any promotion I mention is still active before signing up.
  • Restaurant recommendations are based on my experience at the time of visiting. Menus, prices, quality and even ownership can change.

WealthfulWanderer and its author accept no liability for any errors, omissions or outdated information, or for any loss or damage arising from reliance on the content of this blog.

06

External Links & Third Parties

This blog contains links to external websites and third-party platforms. These links are provided for convenience and reference only. I have no control over the content, accuracy, privacy practices or availability of external sites and cannot accept responsibility for them.

The inclusion of a link to an external website does not constitute an endorsement, recommendation or approval of that website or its contents. Once you leave WealthfulWanderer, you are subject to the terms, conditions and privacy policies of the third-party site you visit.

I am not responsible for any transactions, agreements or relationships you enter into with third parties linked from this blog, including but not limited to brokerages, travel booking platforms, restaurants, retailers or financial institutions.

07

Food, Lifestyle & Reviews

Food reviews, restaurant recommendations, hotel reviews, watch opinions and all other lifestyle content on this blog represent my personal experience and subjective opinion at the time of the visit or purchase. Tastes, standards and circumstances vary — what I enjoy may not be to your taste.

  • I am not a professional food critic, hospitality reviewer or luxury goods expert. My reviews are personal and informal.
  • Restaurant quality, menus and pricing can change. Always check current details directly with the restaurant before visiting.
  • Some restaurant visits or hotel stays may have been hosted or subsidised. I will disclose this clearly when relevant.
  • Watch and luxury goods prices fluctuate. I am not a certified watchmaker or appraiser. Opinions on value are personal and not professional valuations.
  • Walking routes and trail conditions can change due to construction, weather or other factors. Always check current conditions before setting out.

Neither WealthfulWanderer nor its author accepts responsibility for any dissatisfactory experience, loss or disappointment arising from following lifestyle recommendations on this blog.

Singapore-Specific Notice

This blog is written primarily from a Singapore perspective and for a Singapore audience. However, investment regulations, tax treatment, product availability and financial rules differ significantly between countries. Information that applies in Singapore may not apply in your country of residence.

In Singapore, financial advisory services are regulated by the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS) under the Financial Advisers Act (FAA) and the Securities and Futures Act (SFA). I am not licensed under either Act. I am not authorised to provide financial advice under Singapore law.

Content relating to CPF (Central Provident Fund), SRS (Supplementary Retirement Scheme), Singapore Savings Bonds, T-bills and other Singapore-specific products is shared for general informational purposes only. CPF rules are complex and subject to change. Refer to the official CPF Board website (cpf.gov.sg) or consult a licensed financial advisor for CPF-specific guidance.

Tax treatment of investments in Singapore — including withholding taxes on US dividends, estate tax considerations for US-domiciled vs UCITS ETFs, and GST on financial services — can be complex. I am not a tax advisor. Consult IRAS (Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore) or a qualified tax professional for tax guidance.
